Allgau Rock
Allgäu Rock is a detailed and comprehensive sport climbing guidebook for the Allgäu region in Southern Germany. This 2024 edition includes many new routes and areas alongside insider info which makes this book a must for Allgäu regulars and visitors alike.
The guidebook is split into 3 main regions, with the largest being Oberallgäu, an area in Southern Germany between the town of Kempten, Sonthofen and Oberstdorf. The other regions are around the towns of Fussen (on the German/Austria border) and Tannheimer Tax near Reutte in Austria. Two smaller regions are also covered – Känzele near Bregenz in Austria and the climbing at Unterallgäu.
The climbing is almost entirely single pitch sport routes on predominately limestone rock, along with some conglomerate and sandstone. In total, 93 different crags are described and over 2400 routes. For each crag, there is a detailed location map, access description and QR codes and GPS co-ordinates for the parking areas. Each crag is also given a star rating from 1 to 4 to easily identify the best crags of the area. All of the routes are shown on detailed todos.
